Little Princess is 1

First of all, thank you everyone for your comments. They amused me.

Last Sunday was Miss Eden’s birthday. I did what any rational mother would do and stayed up until 3am the night before decorating her cake and then cleaning the frosting off of the floor that I’d flung in desperation.  As fate would have it, my powdered sugar had lumped up, and not owning a sifter, there was no way to delumpify.  So after every few stars, the tip would clog up and I’d start yelling again and stabbing at it with a toothpick and it pretty much took forever.  One might ask why I would go to such pains for a one year old, but my little princess was going to have herself a princess party, so help me.  My mom was there to lie to me (“Oh it looks great!”) and warn me that turning my daughter into a princess could pose some maintenance issues later on when she is old enough to care.  For the record, my mom has also been known to say, “How did I ever get such a prissy daughter?”, so I’m not confident that her method was any more effective.  Eden dove into the cake and made a huge mess, which made me happy.  It was a deceptive mess- she was fairly dainty about it (no frosting flinging), but once we started cleaning up, we discovered that there was not one nook or cranny unscathed.  Mostly she just played with it, but she did lick her fingers a few times and say, “MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM,” which is more than Isaac did with his first cake (he gagged).  And speaking of Isaac, he was happy and supportive despite the fact that Eden was getting all of the attention.  He was a little disappointed that he didn’t get to open a present, but it was ok because she shared her toys with him.  Here are some of our favorite pictures:

I just don't get it.

After much pressure from many persons, we have given in and created this wonderous blog.  The primary reason that I didn't want to create a blog is because I knew that I wouldn't be able to "decorate" it by myself.  I knew that I would then have to ask my busy husband for help.  We would then sit side by side, me trying to describe what's in my head while he fruitlessly plays with html code.  It would get late, I would get cranky, and by the time it was all put together, I'd never want to look at it again.

That's pretty much how it went.

It seems like this is the part where I'm supposed to post cute pictures of the children.  Here are some from today:

Isaac decided to make breakfast for himself and Eden.

Eden sure appreciated it.  Usually Mommy only gives her about 10 Cheerios at a time.

Isaac evidently thought they might run out and helped himself to more.

This is the kind of thing that makes us late for Church every week.
